AVCGI & Asifa India - International Animation Day - A Grand Success!!

Feb 2nd seemed as if all roads were leading
Shilpa Kala Vedika for the animation fraternity of Hyderabad which resulted in
a gigantic turnout of 2,500 students, professionals and delegates came forward
to show their gratitude to Govt. of AP. ASIFA India and AVCGI successfully
conducted International Animation Day 2014 (IAD) an annual global and local
community celebration aimed at showing
the gratitude to the government of Andhra Pradesh by felicitating the Honorable
ITE & C Minister and Secretary for approving the GAME policy of AP.
The festival is celebrated every year with great spectacle.
Being amongst the first animation festivals in India, IAD has been actively
supported by the artist’s community and the industry at large. Beyond the many national and international events related to
animation, this event is celebrated in its very unique style by inviting other
cultural institutions to join in by screening animated films, organizing
workshops, exhibiting artwork and stills, providing technical demonstrations,
and organizing other events helping to promote the art of animation. Such a
celebration is an exceptional opportunity of putting the animated medium in the
limelight and promoting this art form to the public and making it more accessible.
This year International Animation Day has been celebrated on
2nd of Feb, 2014 at Shilpa kala vedika auditorium located in cyber
hub of Hyderabad. The event had a day long events with screening of some
amazing animation content from various animation, game, visual effects studios
& also some stunning content from animation schools.
The celebration witnessed amazing showreels of GreenGold’s Chota Bheem, R&H’s Making of Life of Pi, Firefly, Makuta, CG Trix, DQ Entertainment, EA Arts, TAGS, Little Red Zombies, PurpleTalk, Discreat Arts, Creative Multimedia, IACG, Prasad EFX, 7 Seas Entertainment also showcased their professional reels which made the audience stick to their places the whole day with the same excitement.
The event was attended by the
IT minister Shri. Ponnala Lakshmaiah and secretary Shri. Sanjay Jaju. Basi Reddy, CMD Digiquest and president of
AVCGI felicitated the minister and the secretary and thanked them for giving
the prestigious GAME CITY to the state of AP. The IT minister declared February
2 as an ‘Animation Day’ and also signed the animation and gaming policy on the
dias filled more happiness amount the animation fraternity.
The minister also added, "Today I feel than
the word IT no longer stands for information technology, but it stands for
Indian Talent."Mr. Basi Reddy said this was his long cherished dream come
true and he looked forward to AP becoming the hub of international standards
animation and gaming development industry.
The event was also attended by Mr. Ramesh Prasad, chairman Prasad Group, Mr. Rajiv Chilaka, founder and CEO of Green Gold Animation, Mr. Rajsekhar of Dilsukhnagar Arena Animation, Mr. Ramakrishna of IACG, Mr. Praveen of R&H, Mr. Sunil & Mr. Pete of Makuta VFX, Mr. Rajat of TAGS.
IT minister Shri. Ponnala Lakshmaiah launched AnimationSutra.com on this occasion.
