Mewtwo Strikes Back EVOLUTION Trailer

March 02nd, 2019
As we’ve known since last year, this will be the first Pokemon movie to feature full CGI. We’re unsure if this will be the trend for Pokemon films going forward to give them a more “Hollywood appeal.”
It appears the movie will heavily follow the plot of the original Mewtwo Strikes Back, as the trailer recreates the same scenes and scenery. As we previously reported, Takeshi Shudo, the writer of the first three Pokemon films, is credited as the writer even though he died in 2010.
Mewtwo is undoubtedly voiced by Masachika Ichimura, the original voice actor of Mewtwo.
This will be the first film since 2002’s Pokemon Heroes to feature Misty and the first since 2011’s Zoroark: Master of Illusionsto feature Brock. Brock and Misty were recently featured in the TV show, so new fans should be familiar with them when they see this film.
A new poster was also released depicting Mew and Mewtwo battling over the same arena as the first film.
The movie will debut in Japanese theaters on July 12th.
