Shelter,
an animation film produced by Technopark-based Vyga Animations, won the
award for the best animation film at the 6th CMS Vatavaran Environment
and Wildlife Film Festival and Forum, held in New Delhi from December 6
to 10. It also bagged Technical Excellence Award for Best Editing. Shelter,
a 4-minute animation film, conveys the theme of environmental
conservation through a simple narration. Raghu Gopalan, founder-director
of Vyga Animations, did the concept, script and direction of Shelter. According
to the jury citation, the film effectively captures the message that
mankind's endless quest for materialistic desires can actually destroy
the very basis that provides shelter, in the first place. The story of a
man who takes shelter from the rain under a tree during a thundershower and
then colonizes the tree with fatal consequences achieves that magical
combination of conveying the maximum impact with extreme delicacy. ![]() The Reghu
has been working in the animation field for the past twelve years. Shelter,
screened at the fourth International Documentary Short Film Festival of
Kerala, is the directorial debut of Reghu. The
story gives thrust to environment conservation. Anoop Sreeli and Dilip
gave the creative support of the film. Viswajith did the background
score. The background music has been pepped up with the use of
instruments like chenda, Raghu said. The film will soon be screened at
the Los Angeles Film Festival he added. |
