In India, Zee Institute of Creative Art (ZICA) is a dynamic player
in advertising the growth of the animation industry. It has won the
Asia s Fastest Growing Education Institute Award 2013 under the Best
Graphic and Animation Design training institute category by World
Consulting & Research Corporation (WCRC). Recently, the award was
presented to ZICA by WCRC in Delhi. As well, Zee Institute of Media
Arts (ZIMA) received the award for Best Media Studies Institute.
Across
the Asia, the award brings together academic leaders, visionaries,
educationists and trendsetters. The Asia s Fastest Growing Education
Institute Awards is an ability to take action by the WCRC and procedure
assessed and validated by KPMG in India.
The
winner was selected based on several parameters for example admission
process, extra-curricular activities, infrastructure, faculty, and
student development.
In the industry, various
famous personalities attended the event, including Mr. R S Dhankar –
Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Prof. Gita Raj Ashok – Provost Gulf
Medical College, Mr. Ryan Pinto – CEO Ryann International School, Mr.
Robin Sharma – Project Director SHIKSHA Shiv Nadar Foundation, Dr.
Deepka Nayyar, Emeritus Professor of Economics.

Anshuman Choudhary, Business Head of ZICA, expressing his excitement on

animation, visual effects and gaming. In the past 17 years, we have
cared for some of the brightest talent in the world of animation. The

The shortlisted films are screened at the festival for voting by the audience. Votes are counted on the spot and the entry receiving the most votes is declared the winner for that category.

Phenakistoscope (1831) A phenakistoscope disc by Eadweard Muybridge (1893).The phenakistoscope was an early animation device. It was invented in 1831 simultaneously by the Belgian Joseph Plateau and the Austrian Simon von Stampfer. It consists of a disk with a series of images, drawn on radii evenly spaced around the center of the disk. Slots are cut out of the disk on the same radii as the drawings, but at a different distance from the center. The device would be placed in front of a mirror and spun. As the phenakistoscope is spun, a viewer would look through the slots at the reflection of the drawings which would only become visible when a slot passes by the viewer's eye. This created the illusion of animation.
