Animation workshops for kids on march 7th

March 06th, 2020
We will begin with an intro to how animations were done before computers in order to familiarize the students with the principles behind any animation. As an introduction, we will work with scissors, paper, and pins to animate simple characters. Children will learn to analyze images and break them down into simpler shapes for use in animation.
Students will be able to understand the concept of scalable vector graphics and how to create them for designs and animations. Alongside learning tools in a graphic design application, students will apply skills learned to animations in the Scratch Programming Language by modifying characters (sprites) and creating their own. The skills learned in this workshop will be applicable to any graphic design application. Knowledge of how to create graphics on the computer will open many doors for students to be creative in their future projects including school presentations, computer games development, animations, wall art, and sculptures. This workshop will fuse together art and science and allow young minds to express themselves using their creativity, imagination while gaining valuable computer skills.
