Nelvana Enterprises have signed a new broadcast deal with the BBC for its animated series, Sidekick. The series is scheduled to air on the UK public broadcaster’s kids’ channel, CBBC from summer this year 2014.  The Sidekick is produced by Toronto based Nelvana, with Todd Kauffman as the creator and executive producer of the animated series. The studio boasts a roster of renowned award winning brands including comedies, boy’s action and pre-school title series. The series is about an orphan boy named Eric, with his best friend Trevor and his two female friends, Vana and Kitty, who is training to become sidekicks at the Academy for Aspiring Sidekicks. When dealing with intense sidekick training, Eric must contend with the disappearance of his superhero mentor, Maxum Man, and keep it a secret from the town of Splitsboro, his strict guardian Maxum Brain, grumpy teacher, Professor Pamplemoose and the evil Master Xox.
